Cabana Club ZT2 Quilt
« on: June 06, 2006, 02:34:19 PM »
Those of us who belong to The Cabana Club decided to make a quilt zoo. Actually, zoohio's actual words were, "To show them how it's done." .

We've used a Large Grassland map, divided into sections with hedge fencing. As we each finish our section, we'll erase the hedges (the stitching), so the zoo will be one solid piece, exactly like a quilt is actually done. The initial map was made as flat as possible, so that each quilter can add their own features to their section. There are only 8 of us in the ZT2 part (ZT1 is another topic), so the extra section became the food court.

The first picture is the overview of the map, with the initials of who is doing the section (we'll update each time).

First is the Zoo entrance walkway:
,
then the Food Court.
.

Our first animals are the meerkats and gerunks.

The meerkats spend a lot of time listening
.
And, despite having a mid-morning snack

the meerkats have a nice buggy lunch.
.

And one of the female gerunks is already pregnant!

Ok, this is my section of the Cabana Quilt Zoo.
I took the right of the entrance square and made four large exhibits; Moose, Caribou, Thompson's Gazelle and a Grassland Exhibit with Prezwalski's Horse and American Bison.
All can be view from the footpath or on a Jeep Tour.

And overview:

I know! Me! Pick me! I know who helped! Yay! I win!

:ermm:

I haven't watched Dora in so long...butseeing this reminded me of those 5 year old years.  That made no sense.

Anyhow, I love all of it so far, everything done, every part, is really good. You are all very talented. :original: :IloveZA:

Hahahaha!  I laughed SO hard when I read that Red.  What a great reference!  Swiper no swiping!  Swiper no swiping!  My kids love that show.

Really nice job on the jeep ride.  TexJr has been playing ZT2, and we have FINALLY figured out how to do the jeep rides properly.  This gives us a good example to use as well.  The foxes are so cute.

Earl, as always very nicely done.  LOVE the combined horse \ bison exhibit.

And Cynthia - you amaze me as always.  Love the meerkats - one of my new faves.

Hello All, welcome to my section of the quilt!

The first area you can see is the snow leopards, which has an elevated viewing area so you can best see them:

This is Conan, his partner Red Sonya is about somewhere...
