sheltiefan's ZT2 Zoos
« on: December 16, 2006, 03:37:29 PM »
I've decided to start an S&T thread to show off some of my zoos. I'm not the best zoo builder so don't be surprised if my pics aren't that spectacular:blushing:. I'll try to add updates every couple of days but there are no guarantees.

I've been working on a zoo for some time now, it doesn't have a name because... well I couldn't think of one lol. To start off here we have the entrance
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-1.jpg
and an overview of it
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-2.jpg
Up ahead we spot the zoos first exhibit
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-3.jpg
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-4.jpg
As we near closer we see it's filled with a group of asiatic black bears. This one appears to be a bit drowsy
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-5.jpg
And still more bears
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-6.jpg
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-7.jpg
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-8.jpg
There also seem to be a couple of cubs in the exhibit. Aren't they adorable .
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-9.jpg
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-10.jpg

That's all for now. I plan on getting more pics up tomorrow.

thats a good start to a zoo IMO(in my option)
if it were my zoo though i would make it alittle more hilly. but thats just me iv grown up around alot of hills and mountins so for some reason i make my zoos look like where i live.

Well I live in a very mountainous area and have my whole life. But I generally like to keep the guest areas in my zoo very flat, I do however like to use a lot of hills in my exhibits. I guess it's just a matter of personal preference.

And thanks for all the great comments everyone .

We now move left of the bear exhibit
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-11.jpg
and come across the manta ray tank and the primate house.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-12.jpg
For now we decide to head left to the manta tank
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-13.jpg
there is a peaceful resting area in behind it as well
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-14.jpg
And an overview
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-15.jpg
and now for some pics of the manta rays themselves
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-17.jpg

http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-21.jpg
And finally a lucky shot of a beautiful school of fish (the name of which I can't recall)
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-22.jpg

I'll post pics of the primate house tomorrow.

Sorry for not posting mere pics yesterday but between christmas shopping and homework I was quite busy.

So as promised here are the pics of the primate house. I know it looks pretty bad, I'm not very happy with how it turned out. I'll post half of the pics for it today and half tomorrow.

We approach the looming structure and walk inside.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-23.jpg
A better view from the back of one of the halls.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-24.jpg
There is a path heading to the right from which we can see the gorillas, barbary apes and geladas and another path to the left that has orangutans and crested gibbons. We decide to head right. The first exhibit we come across is the gorillas.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-25.jpg
A picture of one the exhibits residents.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-26.jpg
continuing down the path we come across the barbary ape exhibit.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-27.jpg
Here's one of them now.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-28.jpg
We now walk up the elevated path...
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-29.jpg
to get a look at the geladas.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-30.jpg
A view of one of them from inside the exhibit. You can also see both the upper and lower viewing areas for the exhibit behind him.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-31.jpg

I'll put up pics of the left side of the primate house tomorrow or the day after.

Thanks for all the comments .

Now we move on to the second half of the primate house.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-32.jpg
First we see the orangutan exhibit
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-33.jpg
these two look very content in there home
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-34.jpg
At the end of the hall we spot the final exhibit
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-35.jpg
And upon closer inspection see it's filled with a family of crested gibbons.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-36.jpg
We head back to the beginning of the hall so we can get a new perspective on the orangutan exhibit from the elevated path.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-37.jpg
and here's one of them now.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-38.jpg

Finally an overview of the entire primate house. Unfortunately I had to hide the elevated path to see the interior so the second floors inside are transparent as well.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/sheltiefan_2006/Zoo%202/enlarged-39.jpg

And an overview of the whole zoo thus far.
