Saving freeze

I'm playing the game for a long time and no problems of what so ever, stopped playing it and now back on it.
In this second run I've got some problem with saving:

I had a normal park with a big herd of buffalo's in it, when I stopped playing and wanted to save, my computer froze. He was still working on something but nothing happened, my mouse changed to the normal cursor of windows, but the screen still displayed my park. Waiting for more than a half hour it was still the same.
Shut the computer down started it back up, same with ZT2, and found the saved file but it could not be loaded because it was corrupted.

Now what can I hopefully do without formatting the computer? (have a lot of stuff that can't be erased)
