does the program "APE" cost anything to download? and is it what most people use to make the animals on this website?

APE is a free program. And everyone uses it to create ZT1 materials(animals, scenery, trees, rocks)

no it does not work for ZT2 there is a APE2 tutorial to make stuff for zt2 but not an actuall program that makes it for you.  the APE2 tutorial can be found at  ZTC - if you check in the fansites list or in the zt2 editing forum you will see links to the tutorial.
