Random Animal Facts
« on: July 14, 2009, 08:28:12 AM »
Here are some random animal facts.

The hippopatamus is the most dangerous land mammal in the world.

The dodo, the Great Auk, and several other extinct birds died mostly because of their lack of fear.

The mammal with the worst sting and venom is the platypus.

Feel free to add some other facts that other people might not know.
 :za
Would we know hunting without animals,
Would we know oil spills without oceans?
Would we know cleanliness without filth?
See, one needs another if one is to survive, and one needs himself if others are to survive.

The Orca is the fastest Marine Mammal and the Mako Shark is the fastest Shark aka fish.

The Perigrine Falcon in California are divers of almost 100-180 miles per hour at a long dive.

We all know that the Cheetah is thefastest animal on land (mammal) and the Ostrich is the fastest bird

What else, ummmm... German Shepards have one of the strongest bites in the dog world.

I forget the name but there is a snake that plays dead when it feels threatened. It also lets out a stench that makes the agressor think that the snake is dead.
Name's Tucktuck but you can call me Tuck ;)

Actually, I think the Atlantic Sailfish is the fastest fish.  The Mako shark is the fastest shark though... or was it the blue shark?

Your right but it's the fastest shark. The Dromedary Camel can last a few weeks without water and there used to be Mexican Silver Grizzlies in San Diego and below.

Y'know why the camel can last weeks without water?  Because it stores fat in it's hump(s) and lives off that until the next time it eats.

I just said that.

Did yu know there's a species of ducks where the offsprings learn how to dive headfirst to the ground; and start flying.
Coelocanth have been around since the dinosaurs and were rediscovered 73 years ago off the coast of Africa. More of them are being found like the 2003 Samoan Coelocanth.

73 years ago is 1936
