I read on another site that there was a limit of how many downloads you can have in Zoo Tycoon 1.  If this is true is there a hack or patch to change it.

Yes, ZT1 has a number of limits:

The above gives suggested solutions as well. One can combine ".ztd" files to get more things into ZT.

Also as mentioned, many sites use combined ".dll" files for their downloads to avoid the ".dll" limit. Here is info concerning the various ".dll" files:
