My famous lucky zoo
« on: August 29, 2010, 09:13:41 PM »
Okay it's been a while since I played ZT but I still remember the way I would build my zoo's... and I always name the save as hghf lol it's a long story on why but if I ever name it somethign else then I have horrible rotten luck.

I always use the large Ocean map, and before I build anything I hold down shift + 4 so make easy money so I dont go broke.

What I like doing first and foremost is unlocking the unicorn with Xanadu as their exhibits name. I usually put their place together in pause so that I can keep the happy animal record up real high the whole time. I then add in a few extra exhibits such as show animals and a show tank which they all can share. I normally put the show tank and show animals in the middle of my zoo to keep things a bit more organized.

Once I have those put in place and throw in the zookeepers, maintenance workers, marine specialists etc. I just start throwing in other exhibits sticking with whatever original theme I want. I normally go for a fantasy theme, using any fantasy animal download I find and putting them in my zoo. The Phantasia is probably one of my favorites personally. A friend of mine used to have a winged unicorn for her zoo but when I looked online to find it, the site was closed down so if anyone knows where I can find one then let me know.

I usually save the guests happiness for last. I care enough to make them happy by giving them food but as far as decorations are concerned then forget it. I care more about the animals being happy since the animals are the reason the people come in the first place.

Hope this helps some of you fellow ZT players :) to be honest I prefer ZT1 over ZT2.

Sounds like a fun zoo!  You'll have to post some pics somtime!

Is this the animal you were thinking of?  http://www.lunamanar.com/zklounge/index.php?showtopic=104

Have you gotten through all of the scenerios?  There's one of the Very Advanced scenerios that permanently unlocks the unicorn.

I like to just focus on the animals sometimes, too.  Angry animals lead to angry guests!

Thanks for telling us about your zoo!

No I havent gotten through all the scenarios yet but I will get to that later on.

Sorry no tht's not it. I downloaded it already sicne it is a pegasus though :) (think of a unicorn with wings so it'll still have its horn too)

What site was it from originally? And do you remember the designer's name? Sometimes information like that can help to find it. Knowing the site sometimes allows things to be found on http://www.archive.org/. Also, the site might be around but with a new name and address. With designer names, sometimes others might know how to contact them.

Genki did a lot of recoloured unicorns. They are at ZooTek Phoenix. They also have dragons.

Alright thankyou, I just finished registering with Zootek so let's see what happens when I download a ton of stuff from then ha ha. My boyfriend is already saying Im addicted to downloading new things for Zoo Tycoon and he's afraid of me being overly addicted to the game itself.  rofl If only he knew. Maybe I'll make a copy of my Zoo Tycoon game for him to play on his laptop while he's at college and then see how addicted he gets. :P

(Still waiting on Zootek to let me into their downloads section)

I've gotten the unicorn exhibits up now, and a Pegasus exhibit from the ZTunlimited website. The pegasus download from here just isn't working right. I'll have to keep trying to get it working, there's a few other things I downloaded that aren't working either.

As mentioned in the Wild Wings download topic, the Pegasus might cause ZT problems if it tries to go in water or is placed in water. If you are having other problems with it or with other ZA downloads, you can say what problems you are having. That way we can add appropriate notes to the download topics and eventually have the downloads fixed. Similarly, if you are having problems with downloads from other sites, they would probably want to know. If you are having problems making a suitable exhibit for an animal, often the Animal Configuration Checker at ZKL can help:
http://www.lunamanar.com/zklounge/index.php?showtopic=1203

There is a newer version of that program being used at the Zoo Tycoon Community Download Directory, but that newer version has not been released yet.

I can't see a pegasus there. Do not use the buildings from that site. There are updated versions of those buildings at Tek. If any of them have an exe file I would suggest you do not run it as some of those cause game problems.
What version of the game do you have? ZTCC is available and cheap these days. If you are running an earlier version, ZA has files you might want.

My main problem with Wild Wings is none of the items are showing up at all. The pegasus and other animals that come with it are not there either even though I have them installed. I'm tempted to delete the wild wings pack, and the endangered animals pack (official download btw). Some of the official downloads aren't working, like I can select the animals but they are invisible if I try to place them in my zoo.

I am running the ORIGINAL Zoo Tycoon games, not ZTCC. I got these games when they first were released xD.

As for Zoo Tek I am still waiting to be authorized to get into their downloads and be able to post in their threads. It's been a few days and I'm still waiting.

Since you mentioned show tanks and marine specialists in your first post, I assume you have Marine Mania. The official Endangered Species Download Pack was created for those with Marine Mania. As for the pegasus of the Wild Wings pack, I extracted WWanimals_finalfix.ztd from the Wild Wings ".zip" and put WWanimals_finalfix.ztd in Zoo Tycoon's Updates folder. For those with CC, user downloads should go in the dlupdate folder. But for those without CC and without that folder, user downloads should go in the Updates folder. They should be put there manually and not from within the Zoo Tycoon program. When I went into Zoo Tycoon and started a Large Ocean freeform map, I did not have any problem finding the pegasus in the purchase menu. It was in the section for Grassland animals and is an animal from Europe. I did not have any problems creating a suitable exhibit for it. This testing was with Windows XP.

Because of the problems you are having, it appears something is not installed properly. You might need to uninstall Zoo Tycoon, delete the Zoo Tycoon folder, and reinstall Zoo Tycoon. Before doing so, you might want to save zoo.ini, any saved games, and any screenshots from the Zoo Tycoon folder. I assume you already have user downloads saved elsewhere. After reinstalling, you can then try to put in downloads 1 by 1 and test them. You might want to start with the simplest official downloads, since they were made to work with Marine Mania. When you install downloads, you should always do so manually and not from within Zoo Tycoon.

Good luck.

Well considering I'm running Vista I don't see why I shouldn't try reinstalling Zoo Tycoon. Or I could just remove the items that are not showing up in my Updates folder then add those in one by one and see what happens. Time for experimentation *gets out a screw driver and a wrench* please hold while I rape Zoo Tycoon download lol!

After many different try's I was able to figure out what file was causing my WW animals and objects to not work. It's the uiWW.ztd file. It may work for some people but for me it was causing the WW exp to not work at all for me. It's now fixed, just trying to figure out why some of the CC animals bonus content show up as invisible now when I try to put them in an exhibit.

BTW if someone has a way to contact the Zootek admin please let them know I'm still waiting to be validated by an administrator. (I'm kooky112 still).

Thanks for the feedback concerning uiWW.ztd of the Wild Wings pack. :ty

Concerning the marble unicorn statue from ZA, if you are also using the unicorn lamp from ZA, only 1 can appear in the game. That is because they both happen to be using the same internal file name (67D222FB.ucs) and ZT will only read 1 of any file name.

NP :) glad I could help out. I remember on Windows XP the file worked fine but as for Vista it is obsolete, I dunno though if it's the same.

Is there a way to edit the marble unicorn statue I wonder to make it work? I use the Unicorn Lamp to make a kind of arch entry way. Same for the Ice Unicorn Sculpture for the unicorns that like colder climates. (Love those unicorn statues)

Hi Kooky.  I found an account at Tek for kooky (no 112) so I've approved that account.  Please let me know if this isn't you.

You can lead a cow to water, but a pencil must be lead.

Yes, a new configuration file can be created for it. It is just a matter of finding time to do it.
