i think you have to have at least some fencing. i had a marine zoo, with a sealion hybrid exhibit, but there were only about 5 pieces of fence in the entire zoo. and only 2 broke. the best earthquake ever!

I knew that there were earthquakes, but power surges!? Maybe lamp posts/sky trams/show stages/etc. shut off when it happens. :hmmm: I've always wanted to see an earthquake in the game, but I've never ever had one. I heard that they only occur on certain maps, is this true? And if so, which maps?

they only occur on challenge or campaign maps, not freeform. also i have no idea what the power surge affects. i think it affects the stages and other electricial stuff in the game.

i had a powersurge once, all my filters were destroyed, i could either buy new ones or keep the water clean on my own and wait for the insurance to give me new ones.

i think it means that they only happen where there are earthquakes in real life(on cracks in earth's plates) but not sure

Wow! I want an earthquake in my zoo right now!!! I'm going to play more challenge games to see what happens, especially when i've done a tiger or lion exhibit next to the zebras or gazelles.
Oh, god...i really am sorry about that comment...while trying to unlock the ES theme, two CONSECUTIVE!!! earthquakes striked my zoo. Oh, god, it was sooo horrible. All lions, crocs, tigers and bears running on the loose and the poor people fleeing...it isn't fun really.

I think the best way to prevent this from happening is to save often. It may be technically cheating, but sure beats fixing everything up... :laugh2:

basically what happens is this: the game starts shaking and rumbling, which is freaky becasue there's no warning.  then, a challenge window pops up saying that there was a ton of damage and you need to repair it.
Fences and path get screwed up. You don't actually NEED to replace the paths, but it helps the aestics of the zoo.  The fences, however, you do need to repair becasue otherwise animals escape.  It helps to pause the game.

I hate getting earthquakes. Its a real pain when you have elevated paths over exhibits.
